For leaders, having emotional intelligence is essential for success. After all, who is more likely to succeed – a leader who shouts at his team when he's under stress, or a leader who stay in control, and calmly assesses the situation?

This highly interactive training workshop is customized by LOA CENTRE SG, from principles contained within Six Seconds (www.sixseconds.org) internationally tried and tested model of Emotional Intelligence. The Six Seconds model of Emotional Intelligence includes three macro areas, or ‘pursuits’, with eight underlying competencies. The key macro areas are:

  1. Know Yourself
  2. Choose Yourself
  3. Give Yourself

Under the 3 pursuits are 8 specific, learnable, measurable competencies.

  • Pursuit 1 – Know Yourself (Self Awareness) – The WHAT
    • Recognising your patterns of responses in terms of how you think and therefore feel. This knowledge will help you understand yourself better and as to what “makes you tick”.

  • Pursuit 2 – Choose Yourself (Self-Management) – The HOW
    • Becoming more conscious about how you direct your thoughts, feelings, and actions to avoid reacting unconsciously. This empowers you to determine your results.

  • Pursuit 3 – Give Yourself (Self Direction) – The WHY

    • Healthy, positive relationships begin with self-awareness. — people must begin with being aware of who they are and how others perceive them.

    • Pursuit 2 – Self Management, especially Consequential Thinking enable MANAGERS to work better while they are leading a team. They are able to exercise optimism and create intrinsic motivation. The focus will be on enabling participants pursue the 3 Key Pursuits in emotional Intelligence by learning and understanding the 8 related competencies, and learning tips, tools and techniques to strengthen the competencies they need to work on.

The workshop is highly interactive with plenty of opportunities for hands-on practice, coaching and feedback. The workshop facilitator will also show video clips to aid the understanding and

This is a 2-day workshop that can be customized to a 1-day event where the most important competencies to be covered will be determined by organization. Usually at least 1 competency from each PURSUIT of EQ

Profiling tool (Optional)

All participants can also be profiled using the Six Seconds Emotional Intelligence Assessment (SEI™) as pre-work to the workshop. The SEI is unique because it is action-oriented, practical, and easy to apply to a range of situations, international, well researched, and powerful. The SEI includes two questionnaires, an assessment of current “success factors” (e.g., effectiveness and relationships) and the EQ measure; this puts EQ in the context of important work & life outcomes, providing the “so what?” to make EQ relevant. Therefore, at the beginning of the workshop each individual participant will be aware of the competencies that could potentially be developed for him/her.

The same tool may be applied 3 to 6 months later to measure advances made in competencies that have been identified for individual to work on
