LOA Centre has had a string of successful public speaking sessions for Bank of Singapore, Julius Baer, Aberdeen Asset, JobsCentral's Career Fair and even at the first ever EQ Conference  held in Malaysia (amongst others).  We are therefore delighted to share our services in this area - of creating and delivering corporate (or non-corporate) "value-add" Talks. We are open to speaking at events, at your office or workplace or even your home! We find that Lunch Hour talks are an easy-to-organize and fun sessions that leave participants with something to take away and use immediately and at the same time do it quickly, in the midst of business as usual.

EMOTIONAL RESILIENCE & Optimism in the REAL World Increasing your resilience in the face of Negativity and Economic Downturns

Every success story has a person behind it and behind their stories we find optimism as the fuel that powers action. Optimists live longer, are happier, healthier, have longer-lasting relationships, and are more successful!

Optimism is a skill that enables you to move ahead and perform in spite of adversities that you might encounter in the Real world. Optimistic individuals and teams are resilient and therefore perform better at the workplace.

And when you think about it - given a choice of being with an optimistic colleague at work or a pessimistic colleague – whom would you choose?

Many of us believe that Optimism is something you are born with or lucky enough to inherit by virtue of being born into the right type of family, culture or country.  The truth is that OPTIMISM can be learnt and practiced – if you make that choice.

Positivity – At the heart of your and your organizations' wellbeing and performance

Recent research is bringing clarity to the fact that there is a correlation between employee well-being and their contribution, their personal performance, the performance of their organisation, and with that there an increased value of money spent. Whether the cause of the negativity is internal (the personality and communication style of the individual), external (inherent in the organizational culture), or a combination of the two, the results can be devastating. The effects of negativity are measurable.  Some data uncovered revealed that in 2005, negativity was costing Singapore and Singapore businesses as much as between S$4.9 and 6.7 billion. In the US, it is estimated organisations lose up to US S$3 billion a year.  What is that number in your organization?  Your Industry? Your country

Whilst Wellbeing means different things to different people, when it comes to organisational performance, it is not just about physical well-being but of the emotional and mental well-being of employees.  Dr Martin P Seligman’s study of 600 organisations cites that positivity can

  • Increase team PROFITABILITY by 40%;
  • Increase PRODUCTIVITY by 38%
  • Lower turnover by as much as 50%.

So can positivity be trained?  Absolutely.  Just like all muscles in our body can be trained to be stronger and more resilient, so can our “positivity” muscles.  All that is needed is awareness when we are indulging in negativity so that we can quickly apply some simple techniques to move our state and attitude towards positivity.  In this workshop we will teach you some tips on HOW TO build positivity as an Individual and in your teams.

WFO - Learn an amazing technique for actualising YOUR targets & goals

Do you start of your quarter or year setting goals, and resolutions or perhaps even targets to achieve?  And how successful are you at achieving them?  If you are hitting your targets – that’s great.

Chances are however, that you (or your team) like many out there want to learn how to create more compelling and exciting ways of setting targets.  Targets that go from abstract to actual and real achievements.

A study conducted with students at a Harvard MBA program came up with some interesting data that we should pay attention to.  The students were asked a simple question “Have you set clear, written goals for you future and made plans to accomplish them?”

Only 3% of the graduates had written goals and plans, 13% had goals, but they were not in writing; and a whopping 84% had no specific goals at all.  Ten years later, the members of the class were interviewed again and the findings, while somewhat predictable were nonetheless amazing.  The 13% of the class who had goals were earning, on the average, twice as much as the 84% who had no goals at all. The 3% who had clear, written goals were earning, on the average, 10 times as much as the other 97% put together.

So apart from having it written down, is there anything more we should do?  The answer is YES.  BEFORE we write our targets and goals down we need to THINK clearly about what it is we really WANT and HOW our targets and goals will look, sound and feel like once we have achieved them.  This involves writing in a way that appeals to all our sensory needs.  The result:  Compelling goals that ignite passion and excitement – and are successfully turned into reality.

Interestingly though, the Attitude of Gratitude does not need to end with only gratitude and appreciation for others but also extends to things and resources available. When we are grateful we experience positive emotions and manifest positive results, creating a virtuous cycle that can have a far reaching impact.

One of the most impressive reasons for being grateful is the positive impact on the way you think and feel. Research shows that grateful people have, “higher reported levels of the positive states of alertness, enthusiasm, determination, attentiveness and energy . . .”
